Peter and his wife, Christy, recently relocated to Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville. They quickly fell in love with the area, affectionately calling it “tropical Mayberry.” Despite its small size, the island boasts a vibrant music scene and opportunities for outdoor activities and watersports.
Before settling ashore and re-establishing their “land legs”, Peter and Christy spent 15 years living aboard sailboats full-time, most recently on a Leopard 40. Peter is especially knowledgeable about catamarans and is always happy to talk all things “cat” with clients. His passion for sailing began as a young boy on Lake George, New York, where his family summered. While Kansas City—his hometown—is not typically thought of as a sailing hub, it has a surprisingly active lake sailing community. Over the years, Peter has raced Sunfishes, Lasers, J-boats, and a wide variety of cruising vessels.
Peter practiced law for nearly 20 years before an aggressive form of esophageal cancer dramatically altered his life’s course. Now 22 years cancer-free, he proudly counts himself among the survivors of one of the most challenging diagnoses. Rather than return to law, he chose to simplify his life and move aboard a sailboat in Florida—a decision that reshaped both his lifestyle and career.
An avid outdoorsman, Peter enjoys biking and hiking around the island, especially the state parks and stays active in the gym. In addition to his work with Catamaran Central, he has built a successful career as a commercial photographer, with a recent focus on yacht photography, video, and drone work—helping clients present and sell their vessels at the highest level.
With deep knowledge of sailboats and the liveaboard lifestyle, Peter brings both experience and authenticity to his work. He is a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captain with thousands of sea miles under his keel and a proud member of the International Yacht Brokers Association. Peter is known for providing personable, trustworthy service to clients buying or selling boats.
