Sunreef Catamarans was founded by French entrepreneur and adventurer Francis Lapp. Mr. Lapp’s first visit to Poland in the early 1990’s led him to open a very successful manufacturing business with a focus on electrical system components. While in Poland, Mr. Lapp also fell in love with sailing, first on smaller racing catamarans, and then ultimately buying a cruising catamaran he sailed and chartered, out of Madagascar.
To help offset the cost of ownership and share the sailing lifestyle with friends and colleagues, Mr. Lapp began a travel agency focusing on booking all-inclusive catamaran charters. The business took off, and before they knew it the group needed to grow their fleet not only in number of vessels, but overall in size and quality of catamaran.
Unable to source a catamaran manufacturer that fit his needs of more luxurious and larger catamarans, Sunreef Catamarans was born in Gdansk, Poland. Initially, the boats were built for their growing charter business, and as demand continued to grow, they entered into the private ownership space.
Sunreef Catamarans are all built to order for their clients, so no two Sunreef catamarans are alike. And just like their founder Francis Lapp, Sunreef Yachts is constantly innovating and pushing the envelope of what is possible with a luxury catamaran. They are currently the worldwide leader in alternative power with their Eco Series of catamarans.
