A New Year’s Letter From Our Co-Founder, Wiley Sharp

The weeks surrounding Christmas and New Year’s have always been among my favorite times of the year. I love the anticipation of what the new year will bring, planning for the goals I want to pursue, and reflecting on the successes and challenges of the past year.
For me, one of the biggest highlights of 2024 was bringing on two new brokers, Bill Regan and Keagan Steyn. When Laura and I started Catamaran Central four years ago, we knew we wanted to grow our team to a handful of brokers. We could not have asked for two better guys to join our team.
Bill brings over a decade of yacht sales experience, liveaboard experience, and a sense of humor that constantly brings a laugh. We first began talking with Keagan Steyn while he was still a captain running a Lagoon 620. Keagan joined the team with zero yacht sales experience, BUT what he lacked in experience, he’s more than made up with his hard work ethic and his willingness to learn. When I got into yacht sales, I had a few senior brokers take me under their wings, and shape my career. I feel so fortunate that I’m able to return the favor, and help mentor the future generation.
Our senior broker, Peter Obetz and his wife Christy, have spent the second part of 2024 making preparations to begin cruising on their Leopard 40. They completed a MAJOR electrical upgrade, added a water maker, and completed lots of other smaller projects around the boat. After 15 years of living aboard two different sailboats, they cut their dock lines on Monday, December 30, and began their life as cruisers. It was a great year for boat shows for the CatCen team. Our strategic partnership with &Beyond Yacht Charters and Bristol Marine Finance included shared displays at both the Miami Boat Show and the Annapolis Boat Show. Laura and I were also fortunate enough to once again be a banner sponsor of the VIPCA USVI Charter Yacht Show in St.Thomas this past November. This marked the 7th year that we’ve been sponsoring the charter show.
Looking forward to 2025, we have some VERY BIG news in the coming weeks about our presence at the 2025 Miami International Boat Show, so stay tuned for that.
