There is so much work that goes into the preparation, planning, and execution of a boat show. There is always this sense of “phewwww” after the show ends and we return back to our normal scheduled programing. This year’s Annapolis Sailboat Show was without a doubt our best boat show since Laura and I started Catamaran Central back in December of 2020.
This year’s show was even more special for us, as it represented our second year working in collaboration with our friends at &Beyond Yacht Charters. &Beyond is a boutique yacht management firm that operates a fleet of roughly 15 catamarans for crewed yacht charters in the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.
Collin and Corrine Steyn, the owners of &Beyond, are one of the best yacht charter management firms in the Virgin Islands. So many of our clients who purchase catamarans, are interested in ways to offset the cost of owning a large crewed catamaran; we always feel like our clients are in good hands when in the care and custody of &Beyond.
It was also our first time having our newest broker, Peter Obetz, and his amazing wife Christy, with us at the boat show. The Obetz’s are some of the most genuine and kindest people we have ever had the privilege to work with. They are also a minority in the catamaran brokerage world, in that they live aboard their Leopard 40 catamaran full time. Most of our buyers are first time boat owners, so having 13 years of liveaboard experience is something they love to share with perspective clients.
This year’s boat show did not disappoint. With almost 50 catamarans on display, multiple vendor tents, and tons of seminars there was not a shortage of activities for showgoers to experience.
Laura, Wiley, Peter, and Christy are so appreciative for everyone that stopped by to say hi, talk catamarans, and just enjoy a beautiful weekend in Annapolis.
